Vacancy for Assistant Parish Clerk

 

Brockenhurst Parish Council is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Assistant Parish Clerk. Working with the Clerk, this interesting and varied role includes assisting and deputising for the Parish Clerk to ensure the Parish Council operates in an efficient and legal manner.

Duties will also include enhancing communications with our residents by maintaining our website, office digital board and any future social media platforms.  This will also involve direct contact with our residents either by telephone or at our office during opening hours.   The administration of our charity, the Nalder Trust and the organising of village events such as the annual Pancake Races and Christmas Fun Evening.

 

A working knowledge of Parish Council procedures and/or public administration is desirable but not essential as training can be given.

A good level of literacy and IT and administration skills are required along with being an excellent communicator with our eleven councillors, colleagues and our residents.  The role will require attendance at some evening meetings.

 

This is a part-time position working up to 16 hours per week. Mainly based at our office in Brookley Road with the opportunity for some home working, if required. Remuneration commencing at NALC pay scale 9, which is currently £12.06 per hour, with the opportunity to join the Local Government Pension Scheme and pro-rata statutory holiday entitlement.  Working hours to be discussed at interview with a flexible approach required.  There will be opportunities for training and development in the role.
